Questions and answers
Is it a recipe app?
Above all it is a planner. You say when the pizza goes on the table, and choose one of 19 styles and how many pizzas. You get the recipe with its amounts and a timeline with a clock time on every step. The time you have and the temperature in your kitchen and fridge decide how much yeast the dough needs.
What does it cost?
You can plan and bake one dough at a time for free, with all the styles, the timeline and every alarm.
Pro adds preferments, Dial in for water, salt and flour, the Library with saved recipes and the Dough log, and several doughs at once. The app can also read recipes, flour bags and photos of your pizza.
The app shows the price of the monthly and yearly plans in your country's currency. Both include 5 recipe readings, 25 bake readings and 25 flour bags a month, and new ones come on the first. Extra recipe readings can be bought five at a time and need an active subscription.
The first week is free for new subscribers, with 3 recipe readings, 10 bake readings and 10 flour bags. If you cancel before the week is over, you pay nothing.
Does it suit beginners?
Yes. A first plan needs only a style and a time, and the advanced settings stay off until you turn them on. The app tells you what to do and when, but stretching out a pizza is something you have to practise yourself.
Do I need a pizza oven?
No. Each style has its own temperature range, and the bake time is worked out from the temperature you set. Enter Oven ceiling in the settings and the plan stops where your oven does. A style that needs more heat still opens, but the app puts no bake time on it rather than guessing. In an ordinary kitchen oven, a baking steel with a long preheat is what gives the base enough heat.
Can I use a recipe I already have?
Yes, with Pro. The app reads the recipe from a photo, a cookbook page or a link, checks it against its own numbers and translates it. Anything it had to guess is listed before anything is used. You can then adjust the recipe so the dough is ready when you want it. A recipe with nothing that ferments cannot be brought in.
Can I use sourdough?
Yes, with Pro. The app works out how much starter the plan needs, and tells you if the plan falls outside what its model holds for. Pro also has biga, poolish and pâte fermentée. The free version makes a direct dough with yeast.
Is my flour in the app?
Probably. The catalogue has more than 120 flours with their published protein and strength, and estimated figures are marked. The app tells you if a blend will not hold up for the fermentation time. If your flour is not on the list, Pro can read the bag, both the front and the nutrition table.
Where do the numbers come from?
The styles are built on published recipes for each style, and the flours on published figures. The numbers are recommendations, not measurements, because your oven and kitchen can differ. With Pro you can mark a dough Over-proofed, Just right or Under-proofed, and the next plan adjusts the yeast.
Do I get an alarm when the phone is locked?
Yes, also when the app is closed. You choose which steps ring, and the alarm comes once more ten minutes later unless you turn that off.
If your iPhone is on silent there is no sound, and a Focus mode holds the alarm back unless you allow the app in it. On Android, Exact alarms must be allowed for it to ring on the minute, and Samsung's battery setting for apps in deep sleep can stop it.
Do I have to get up at night?
Usually not. Quiet hours are on from the start, 23:00–07:00 unless you change them. Steps that would fall in that window are moved, and the dough waits in the fridge. If that cannot be done, the app says so and asks you to change the time or narrow the window.
How early do I have to start, and what if plans change?
A dough needs at least three hours, and you can plan up to seven days ahead. If you change the time, the whole plan moves with it. You can also freeze the dough at any point along the way, and the app works out what that costs in yeast and how long the thaw takes.
Do I need an account, and where is my data stored?
You need no account, and your recipes and plans stay on your phone. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Planning, the timeline and alarms work without a network.
Whatever you ask the app to read is sent through our service to Anthropic, which reads it. We store neither the photos, the links nor the results. Your IP address is used to count requests per day, and those counters are deleted after 48 hours. Purchases are checked with Apple or Google.
If you delete the app, the data goes with it, so make a backup first.
How do I change phones or cancel?
Save your data with “Move or back up this device's data” and bring it in on the new phone. Then tap “Restore purchases” with the same Apple ID or Google account. Pro does not move between iPhone and Android.
You cancel with the store: on iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and on Android in the Play Store under your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
